Skate Sharpening
Our store offers sharpening services for figure and hockey skates (both player and goalie). We have a fully professional skate sharpening machine and trained staff. Depending on the steel used in the skate, we utilize different grinding wheels to achieve the best possible edge.
You can choose from the following types of sharpening:
Recreational - performed using a 60-grit stone. This sharpening is done on a groove depth of 1/2 inch (approximately 13 mm) and is the basic sharpening for recreational skaters.
Professional - Hockey - performed using an 80-grit stone with finishing pastes. The sharpening is tailored to the client’s expectations and requirements, making it suitable for ice hockey players or advanced freestyle and recreational skaters. With the ability to choose the depth of the sharpening, it is customized to the athlete's parameters and allows for selecting the most suitable edge. Using a higher-grit stone combined with finishing pastes and stones results in a high-quality edge with better performance and longer durability.
Professional - Goalie - performed using an 80-grit stone with finishing pastes. This sharpening is also customized to the client's needs and is designed for ice hockey goalies or advanced freestyle and recreational skaters. The depth of the sharpening can be adjusted to fit the athlete's parameters, allowing for the selection of the most suitable edge. The use of a higher-grit stone, along with finishing pastes and stones, results in a high-quality edge that offers better performance and lasts longer.
Professional - Figure Skates - performed using an 80-grit stone (stainless steel blades) or a 100-grit stone (carbon steel blades) with finishing pastes. This sharpening is customized according to the client's expectations and requirements and is suitable for both professional and amateur figure skaters. The depth of the sharpening can be tailored to the athlete's parameters, allowing for the selection of the most suitable edge. The use of a higher-grit stone, in combination with finishing pastes and stones, ensures a high-quality edge that offers better performance and lasts longer. Additionally, during the sharpening process, we check and adjust the profile of the front part of the blade around the toe pick.
If you have specific preferences regarding the sharpening depth, please let us know.
Before sending your skates to us, please familiarize yourself with and fill out the forms available in the "DOWNLOADABLE FILES" section. Additionally, you should take photographs of both blades from two sides and send the images to the email address: ostrzenie@edge.shop.pl, including your name and order number in the subject line if the order was placed through the online store.
If the form is not completed and the photos are not sent, we will not be able to provide the service.
